Helen Bowden Psychotherapy & Counselling

When life feels overwhelming, you don’t have to face it alone.

Supportive, professional counselling in a safe and confidential setting.

About Me

Hello, I’m Helen Bowden, a counsellor and psychotherapist currently completing my MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy. I am also a registered nurse and public health practitioner, which brings a broad and compassionate understanding of both mental and physical wellbeing into my therapeutic work.

I offer a warm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is going on for you.

I work with a diverse range of clients and tailor therapy to your individual needs. My goal is always to help you understand yourself and find ways forward that feel right for you.

I have a particular interest and experience in women’s health, including maternal mental health and the emotional and psychological impact of peri- and post-menopausal change. Alongside this, my nursing background enables me to offer support with a wide range of life experiences, including anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction and relationship difficulties.

I offer in-person sessions in the Solihull area, as well as online and telephone appointments, allowing flexibility to suit your circumstances.

Taking the step to seek therapy can feel daunting. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin - therapy is a space to explore, reflect and move at your own pace.

How I can help

People come to therapy for many different reasons. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or simply aware that something doesn’t feel quite right. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy — sometimes it’s about having space to pause, reflect, and be heard.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy to support you with a wide range of emotional and life challenges, including:

  • Anxiety, stress, and feeling overwhelmed

  • Low mood and depression

  • Trauma and difficult life experiences

  • Relationship and family difficulties

  • Addiction and unhealthy coping patterns

  • Life transitions and identity changes

  • Women’s health–related challenges, including maternal mental health and peri- and post-menopausal experiences

My approach is collaborative and integrative, meaning I adapt the way we work to suit you as an individual. Therapy is not about giving advice or telling you what to do, but about helping you better understand yourself, your patterns, and your emotional responses, so you can make choices that feel right for you.

I aim to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, explore difficult feelings, and develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and self-compassion.
